This blog is about my journey as a Serial Entrepreneur, my quest to travel to Abu Dhabi & Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the path I’m taking to get there, and a learning experience for me that I’m sharing with you. This is a message of hope to all entrepreneurs out there to stay motivated, believe in your dreams, and never stop. This blog will document my perseverance, stubbornness, diligence, tenacity, and good old fashion elbow grease and moxie. I’ll talk about technology, writing a business plan, online marketing techniques, culture in the Middle East, business and social Etiquette in the UAE, business networking, and organization affiliations. I hope you learn from my blog, feel free to ask me any questions, post comments, and I hope you enjoy this ride as much as I am.

WAIT ~ PATIENCE ~ FAITH

I said this was going to be a journey, and that’s exactly what it is.

Not sure if you've seen the Book of Eli.  I guess that’s how I feel, like I’ve been walking for 30 years with no map just a voice telling me to take a message somewhere.  I started to cry, sometimes I feel like it’s never going to end – this Entrepreneur thing. Am I just going through a phase like my Mom used to tell me when I wanted to do something different? If it is, this is a long ass phase. I gotta be insane somewhat because I fit the definition of insanity – running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing; and running up credit cards, depleting my savings, starting a business and then failing. See how it felt to read that over and over again. You were wondering when I was going to stop, but you kept reading because you just knew I had to stop, but you just didn’t know when. So you kept reading with hope of getting to the next sentence. That’s I feel being a Serial Entrepreneur.

Why is the Rear-View Mirror smaller than the Windshield?

Cars are made with a very large windshield and a very small rear-view mirror because in order to drive safely and reach our destination we need to look forward more than we do backwards. Imagine driving down the road, focused most of the time with your eyes looking back at everything you pass while you’re speeding down the highway. We can imagine the eventual result of not keeping our eyes forward, or what happens when we aren’t focused on what’s ahead of us. How much time should we spend reflecting backward versus making sure we’re looking forward? The intent is for us to look forward rather than spending all of our time looking back. Hopefully, I’ll keep this in mind when I feel unbalanced. Sometimes my personal life intertwines or interferes with my business endeavors, and I need remind myself that in order to reach my goal I need to keep looking forward.

No BlackBerry Use in UAE

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES -- Citing national security concerns, the United Arab Emirates said Sunday that it will block key features on BlackBerry smartphones because the devices operate beyond the government's ability to monitor. The decision could prevent hundreds of thousands of users business visitors and tourist alike in the UAE from accessing e-mail and the Web on their devices starting Oct. 11th.

Hmmm... this is not good.  I have an iPhone, but I couldn't imagine not being able to use it in the UAE.  I'd feel like a fish out of water.

Perfect Example of Company Name and Branding

I just found this video this morning, and it compliments and supports my post from yesterday about Naming Your Company to Build a Memorable Brand. The owner of Butch Bakery aptly named his company to reach a male target market and ride the Cupcake trend, that's not going anywhere anytime soon.
